What Is Shamanism?
Shamanism is believed to be the oldest belief system, dating back over 40,000 years.  Shamanism is the belief that all things contain a spirit and that all things are interconnected.  When thee connections break, damage and dis-ease occur.  Shamanism is an ancient art based on beliefs that illness had a spiritual foundation and the basic forms of illness are: Soul loss, Spiritual intrusion, and Power loss.  Shamans work to restore the losses and remove the intrusions.
Shamans use the rhythms of a drum or rattle to enter the spiritual world . Shamans use an ancient technique called journeying which allows the shaman to travel to the spirit world and consult the spirit guides.  The shaman acts as the "hallow bone" through which the spirits work.

Soul Retrieval
Soul Retrieval is the ancient art of aiding the soul or spirit of an individual that may have been fragmented due to trauma, illness or abuse.  Soul loss is normal.  This is how our soul survives a trauma. Soul loss symptoms include chronic illness, depression, feelings of being unable to pull it together.  Soul loss occurs in accident, war, abuse, operations, falls, broken relationships, and many more.  The goal of the shaman is to search the spirit world for the lost soul parts and return them to their source. (For more information please use the Soul Retrieval button on the left of the page.)

Power Animals or Totems
Power animals are universal to all cultures.  Animal spirits (like guardian angels) reside with each individual adding to our power, protecting us from illness and negative energies.  Power animals empower us, and help us to recognize our own innate abilities.  Their energies help us to heal, inspire us and help in personal growth.  The help us find out who we are by using their traits.  Every animal reflects specific energy patterns.  By aligning ourselves with the animal we align ourselves with the energy patterns that work through the animal.  Whether it be the sigh of an owl, the quickness of a cheetah, the survival skills of a possum, or the building ability of the beaver.

Power Animal Retrieval
These retrievals can be used when you are feeling powerless, going through change of any nature or anytime that you feel the need.  The shaman will journey to the spirit world and bring back an animal that agrees to work with you at this time.

Extraction
Shamans work not only with the soul, but also with the bodies energy.  Shamans may remove misplaced energy to facilitate a healing.  Misplaced energy is not good nor bad, but can cause the body to become out of sync.  Shamans use a variety of methods to locate the misplaced energies and remove them.  Methods include plucking, feather movement, rattles, drums, crystal, and various other methods.  Misplaced energies often come from emotions.  Shamans view emotions as manifestations of energies.  Stress, anger, frustration and other emotions can collect and cause illness.  Misplaced energies can collect over old injuries as well.  Energy blocks can also be from anger directed at us from others with or without their intentions.

Spiritual Healing
Spiritual healing consists of many different methods from all over the world.  Each healing is tailored to the individual at that time.  Spirits guide us on what is needed to best serve you at that time.  (For more information please use the Healing Gatherings button on the left of the page.)
